Since the last decades of the twentieth century, appropriation has been one of the main approaches of contemporary artistic research and a well-established practice. The materials of these practices are objects, as well as images and artworks. In Italy, since the end of the 1960s, these practices have emerged within the experiences of conceptual art, aimed at investigating the nature of the image and its characteristics. This essay focuses on some researches that, as case studies, show specific features related to these practices and not to the traditional approach of quotation.
